International students often choose Aiken Technical College for the same reasons as other students, and the College welcomes them to campus, working to make the transition as easy as possible.
International students do, however, have to complete additional application steps and should begin the admission process at least six months prior to the semester they’re applying to attend.
Application steps include:
1) Complete Admissions Application Online
2) Complete International Student Process Packet and attach supporting documentation for the following:

Current Visa and Passport

Academic Transcript(s) and TOEFL Scores

Transcripts must be evaluated by an NACES approved evaluation service. You can obtain additional information regarding these services at naces.org

TOEFL Score- Minimum of 500 (paper version, 190 (computerized version) or 61 (internet based version). For countries where English is not the national language: The TOEFL provides English proficiency testing services for international students planning to study in the United States, Canada, and other countries where English is the language of instruction. Submit a financial statement(s) that indicates you have an account, (can be a joint account), with a minimum balance of at least one years’ cost of attendance $19,580.00. Make sure the statement is printed in English with the balance converted into U.S. dollars. (Attached) Affidavit of Support”—(BCIS form I-134) from someone who is willing to provide assistance with your expenses, if needed, while attending college in the United States. You may print an “Affidavit of Support” from the U.S. Government website.

Proof of health insurance that insures coverage in the United States

Immunization record
3) Receive the I-20 Form (Provided by the Enrollment Services Center within 2 weeks of receiving the completed International Student Process Packet.
4) Home Land Security Fees

There is a non-refundable fee payable to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (U.S.I.C.E.) for the processing of an initial I-20 (student visa for student/exchange visitor processing.)

Deadline: Must have receipt prior to meeting with the Embassy (interview)

5) Interview with US Embassy/Consulate
6) Instructions upon Arrival in U.S.
7) Report to the Enrollment Services Center within 1 week of entering the country
8) Complete any outstanding admissions requirements, meet with an advisor, and register for classes (Minimum 12 Credits)
Visa’s other than an F-1 (Student visa)
Individuals who are not United States citizens but are legally in the United States under a visa status other than F-1 may, under many circumstances, take limited coursework at Aiken Technical College within the restrictions provided under their current visa status. They should speak with an international representative in the Enrollment Services Center.
