Metallica Scholar: Kenier Falcon

Kenier Falcon, of Batesburg, S.C., is a Metallica Scholar who completed the CompTIA A+ course at Aiken Tech during the fall of 2023. He was drawn to the course because of his interest in learning more about cybersecurity and progressing in such a career.

What are your most proud of?

I liked when we had to disassemble the computer and put it back together. Pretty glad that we didn’t mess up the CPU! It’s a really sensitive component and can break easily.

What’s next for you after you complete the A+ course?

I plan to keep on studying. There are practice exams we can take to help us prepare for the certification exam, so I plan to keep on studying and take the practice exams until I’m confident enough. Then, I’m going to take the test.

What would you tell others considering taking a CompTIA certification course at Aiken Tech?

Take it. It’s really not hard. Even taking apart the computer is not that hard either, you just have to be careful. The information is easy as long as you pay attention.

What are initiatives such as Metallica Scholars important?

“It helps people in the community grow,” said Falcon, adding that the no-cost courses can open doors for a successful career. “It can help you get a high-paying job and help you get a better life.”
