Fluor Foundation awards grant to support Aiken Tech student veterans

The Fluor Foundation’s Military Support Coalition has awarded the Aiken Technical College Foundation a grant to continue support for student veterans as they pursue their education at Aiken Tech.

The $20,000 grant will be used for scholarships to help student veterans with the cost of attendance and living expenses while enrolled at the College.

Since 2016, the Flour Foundation has awarded funding to the ATC Foundation for such scholarships, which have helped more than 100 student veterans to date.

“We are thankful for the Fluor Foundation’s ongoing support of our student veterans. The funding helps address financial barriers often not covered by other financial aid resources, but can impact a student veteran’s ability to start or continue their education,” said Aiken Technical College Foundation President Dr. Forest Mahan.

The scholarships funded through the Fluor Foundation are among the ways the College supports student veterans and their families. Other efforts include a dedicated Veterans Affairs and Financial Aid Specialist, an active Student Veterans Association, and partnerships with several community organizations.

The College’s efforts have been nationally recognized by Viqtory as a Military Friendly School with gold level designation and a Military Friendly Spouse School, both for the 2023-2024 year.
