Alumni Spotlight: Jakobe Bush, '24
Jakobe Bush is among the first cohort to graduate from Aiken Technical College’s LPN to RN transition evening program on April 30, 2024.
The program, which began in the summer of 2023, provides licensed practical nurses an opportunity to work toward their Associate in Applied Science: Nursing degree while still maintaining employment in the nursing field.
Bush, who had previously earned his Diploma in Applied Science: Nursing from Aiken Tech, decided to return to take the next step toward his career goals.

Why did you choose to attend Aiken Technical College?
I chose to attend Aiken Technical College because the curriculum was tailored to my career goals, providing me with knowledge and hands-on experience. The class sizes provided a community feel, which was conducive to my learning style.
Why did you choose your current program of study?
I chose nursing because I have always wanted a career that would allow me to help others and make a difference in the world. Nursing also provides ample opportunity to explore within the field, promoting continued growth and learning.
What are your ultimate career goals?
My ultimate career goal is to become a medical ICU nurse. Aiken Tech has prepared me by equipping me with the knowledge needed to be successful in this specialty of nursing. I was also able to network and be exposed to different opportunities available to me while attending.
